How is a Super Heinz Constructed?
As we have explained at the top of this article, a Super Heinz bet consists of 120 lines and is made up of the following components:
- 21 doubles
- 35 trebles
- 35 fourfold accumulators
- 21 fivefold accumulators
- 7 sixfold accumulators
- 1 sevenfold accumulator
As the various lines suggest, in order to start a Super Heinz seven different selections are needed. Not every one of your chosen selections needs to win in order for you to make some returns. However, in order to make some returns, at least two of your selections need to be predicted correctly.
Super Heinz Bet - A Winning Example
For the purpose of this guide, let’s imagine that we want to place a Super Heinz bet on Premier League football and we want to bet on seven teams to win their respective matches - Arsenal, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle and Tottenham.
After all of the matches have concluded, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham have all won their matches, meaning that five of our seven selections have been predicted correctly. This is great news for our bet as we would win numerous lines. This would include several doubles, trebles, fourfolds and one fivefold bet.
As two of our selections went on to lose, Bournemouth and Newcastle, this would mean that any sixfolds and the sevenfold bets wouldn’t be winners.
The only way that you could win maximum value from placing a Super Heinz is if every team, player or horse you back ends up winning. If all seven of your selections win, you could be in line for huge profits.
If only two of my teams win will I be in profit?
Despite the numerous permutations of a Super Heinz, the real value of the bet lies in the fourfolds, fivefolds, sixfolds and the one sevenfold bet. Whilst you would make winnings with the doubles and trebles, the returns of these bets would be far smaller than the larger combination bets that make up the bet and may not cover your initial stake.
When it comes to overall profit, a lot will depend on the odds of each of your seven selections. In sports like horse racing where the odds are more generous than in sports like tennis, you might have a chance of covering your bets if just two or three horses win, but this is based purely on the odds of the selections you choose.
How are the Winnings Calculated?
The winning combinations are calculated by multiplying the odds of each of your selections and if you end up winning multiple lines, the returns of all of these will be added together to make a final total.
For example, if you end up winning five doubles, three trebles, two fourfolds and one fivefold - the value of all of the doubles, trebles, fourfolds and fivefolds would all be added together to give you the final return.
The hope would be that all of the winning combinations would surpass the original bet that was placed and a profit returned.
How Much do I Need to Bet on a Super Heinz?
As we mentioned at the top of the guide, with 120 different betting lines a Super Heinz bet can be expensive to place.
Let’s say you wanted to bet £1 per line, this would mean that your total stake would end up being £120. If you were to bet 50p this would result in a £60 wager.
Usually only reserved for those that like to bet bigger stakes, it’s essential that you remember that whatever you wish to stake you need to multiply by 120.
What Sort of Sums can be Won from a Super Heinz?
One of the most famous Super Heinz bets ever placed was back in 2019.
Former golf world number one and Ryder Cup legend Lee Westwood once won £48,000 from a £240 stake. Westwood won that small fortune courtesy of betting on seven horses at the 2019 Cheltenham Festival.
By the end of the day’s racing, Westwood had correctly guessed six of his seven selections which saw him win a multitude of doubles, trebles, fourfolds, fivefolds and a sixfold bet.
Westwood’s win is a brilliant example of how effective a Super Heinz can be for those wanting to get their hands on huge potential returns.
