Glossary
Accumulator
An Accumulator is a bet that includes four or more selections from different events. For the bet to be profitable, every selection must win. The returns from each selection are rolled over to serve as the stake for the next selection. This compounding effect can lead to a substantial potential return, but it also makes the bet significantly more challenging to win.
Alphabet
An Alphabet bet consists of six selections from different events, numbered 1 to 6. It combines these selections into 2 Patents, 1 Yankee, and an Accumulator.
Canadian
A Canadian, also known as a Super Yankee, consists of 5 selections from different events, combined to create 26 bets. These include a 5-Fold Accumulator, 5 permed 4-Folds, 10 permed Trebles, and 10 permed Doubles. If all selections win, some bookmakers may apply a bonus to the return or the winnings, depending on their rules. However, this practice is not very common.
Typically, a 10% bonus is applied to the return if all selections win, though this percentage can vary between bookmakers. Some bookmakers apply the bonus only to the winnings, which might be offset by offering a higher bonus percentage or better odds. This bonus usually applies only to the win part of each way bets, but some bookmakers might apply it to both win and place parts. Many bookmakers limit bonuses to Alphabets composed entirely of horse racing and/or greyhound selections, excluding Ante-post. Some may extend bonuses to other sports bets, though these are often restricted to certain markets and come with additional conditions.
