A Treble Bet Explained
A treble bet is a bet that contains three different outcomes. In order for the bet to be successful each of the three selections need to be guessed correctly. If any of the three legs don’t match your original prediction, then your bet will be classed as a loser. One of the most common sports that treble bets are used in is football. Let’s take the example of the three matches below - Netherlands vs Austria, Denmark vs Serbia and Peru vs Canada.
How to Place a Treble Bet
By looking at the odds we can see that the three favourites for the match are the Netherlands, Denmark and Canada, let’s assume we want to bet on all three to win. Netherlands play first and let’s assume they win, the bet will then roll onto the Denmark game. If they were able to win the match our bet would still be live and all we would require for our bet to win is for Canada to win their match. If Canada win, our treble bet would win. However, if Denmark or the Netherlands were to draw or lose, our bet would be a loser and although the Canada match wouldn’t have kicked off, the outcome of that match wouldn’t matter as our bet would no longer be valid and in play. In order to register your treble bet, the process is easy. Firstly you will need to select the odds of each team. This should automatically load each of your selections into your bet slip. When opening your bet slip, your selections should now be visible. There should be a field that reads ‘treble’. Once found, enter your stake and your odds should be revealed. If happy with all elements of your bet, click confirm and your bet should be placed.
Do Treble Bets Always Need to Be on the Same Sport?
For those that like to bet on sports or consider themselves experts when it comes to more than one sport, then the great news is that if you want to place a treble bet your bet can be made from three different sports. Let’s say that you want to bet on football, tennis and cricket. There isn’t anything to stop you placing a bet on an individual football match, a tennis match and a cricket match and combining your choices into one bet. No matter what sports you wish to bet on and combine, the rules for landing a treble will still stay the same. In order for your treble bet to win, every leg of your bet must be successful.
What Sports Are Great for Treble Bets?
There are some sports that are great for treble bets. Football and tennis are two of the most popular due to the sheer daily volume of each sport. For those seeking truly brilliant value then horse racing trebles can be very attractive. Due to football and tennis containing just two teams and players, finding value can sometimes be a little difficult. However that problem is often eradicated when betting on horses. Due to the number of horses usually running in a horse race, terrific value can usually be found. Other popular sports to bet trebles on are the NFL and NBA. Due to the frequency and blocks of these games, they are both popular with sports bettors all over the world.
How Are the Odds of a Treble Bet Calculated?
The way that the odds for a treble bet are calculated are the same as double bets and accumulator bets. The odds for each selection are multiplied together to produce one final value. If you are betting online or via an app then your site should calculate these odds for you automatically. However, if you want to work out your odds in another way then there are a great selection of online betting calculators that you can use. Check out an example here.
Online Bookmaker Features to Ease Treble Bet Risks
As a treble bet contains three selections, most online bookmakers will allow a treble bet to be cashed out early. This means that if one of your selections is looking in jeopardy or you are having second thoughts about one of your legs, you should be able to take a percentage of your overall winnings and end your bet early. Whilst some bettors will never cash out, it is a great way to ensure some profit can be made if a bet looks like it could go either way. The amount you win won’t reflect the overall amount that you could have won, but it means that if you cash out early, the result of any final matches in your bet won’t matter as you would have already settled your bet.
